Keeping Car Clean Protects Vehicle Investment

Keeping Car Clean Protects Vehicle Investment

Tips for keeping your car clean

Keeping your vehicle clean inside and out can pay big dividends when it comes to maintaining its long-term value. The non-profit Car Care Council suggests some simple steps to keep your vehicle clean and protect it from the elements so it retains its resale and trade-in value.

Declutter - Start the cleaning process by removing excess clutter from inside the car as it can be distracting and hazardous, especially when debris finds its way near the gas and brake pedals. Don't forget to clear out items that have accumulated in the trunk as they can add extra weight and reduce fuel efficiency.

Clean the Interior - The next step is to thoroughly clean the interior, wash the windows, and clean and install floor mats. Be sure to vacuum on a regular basis. A clean and orderly interior allows you to spot issues in the cabin so you can get them repaired before they get worse.

Wash the Exterior - Give the car a good wash from top to bottom using products specifically made for automobiles (not dish detergent). Always clean the tires and wheels before washing the body, and don't use the same washing mitt or cloth for both.

Wax Twice a Year - Waxing not only protects a vehicle's finish, but it also makes subsequent washing easier. Before proceeding, make sure there are no foreign particles on the paint. It is important to note that waxing should be done in the shade, not direct sunlight.

Fix Chips - If there is minor paint damage, cover the paint chips as quickly as possible to prevent further damage. For a quick fix until you can get paint touchup supplies, dab a little clear nail polish on the scratch.

Since many vehicles are sitting idle for long periods these days, it is important to remove the grime and sediment that can build up on the outside of the car to help prevent rust. It's also a good idea to wipe the dashboard, steering wheel, cup holders, door handles, vents and console with a quality, all-purpose automotive cleaner to disinfect the interior areas of the vehicle.

Rented a 15' U Haul truck for a local move on line. The wrong date was reserved. I called them and made a request to change the date. It was less than 24 hours and they made it happen. Very polite, professional. Thank you Autoworks!

Awesome service with no hidden costs! We brought our Ford Edge in for a routine tune up but we also had a stubborn Check Engine Light problem that three other shops could identify but not fix. We used their Service Special coupon to save money and service all the key maintenance issues. We also used their Free Check Engine Light Scan coupon to determine what was need to address the light. For free, all the problems were fixed within their estimate. Thanks to Autoworks we have a smooth running vehicle; with pick up and an immediate improvement to gas mileage. Something this car has not had in more than a year.

Glad I found Autoworks Service & Repair. They are great, fast, affordable, and honest. Took my 2006 Nissan Murano in for a CV axle and a look-over. Then had an AC Belt replaced, new shocks installed, and right side CV axle. Incredibly happy with their work and my car is back to normal. I would recommend them to anyone and we will continue to use them for all our cars. Thanks guys!

reviewiconVery Satisfied

My son had an intermittent issue with his Jeep. Another mechanic could not find the problem. Living out of town, I did not know of any reputable repair places where my son could get his problem resolved. I searched the internet, read reviews and decided to take a chance here. Very satisfied that they were able to get him in next day. Even thought it took a little longer than hoped for to get it repaired, they found and fixed the issue. I am even happy with the price. As my son said: "It drives better than it ever has before" Thank you Autoworks
